Actually not that much. After spending a week home in beautiful Switzerland I'm kind of back in the US way of things.
Thanksgiving is coming up. Now, somebody please explain Thanksgiving to me. Actually you don't, I looked it up on Wikipedia (what a great tool that is).
According to it, it's to "express thanks for one's material and spiritual possessions"
Exactly what we need here, a holiday that celebrates material possessions! That seems to be the number one theme over here! Who drives the bigger car and has the biggest house. Good thing that this is coming to an end, as I've seen a few Smart cars already here in Philadelphia. It's now cool to drive a smaller car and people who drive Hummers are getting booed! Did you know a Swiss guy came up with the Smart?
"Most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast"
That's a good thing. I think people should spend more time with their families! A holiday about food can only be good, who doesn't like food? Also there's actually some good food, as in Turkey, which is btw. healthy for you. Just don't put too much of that sauce on it!
Sweet potatoes are supposed to be good for you too, so dig in. I don't like sweet potatoes, because I think potatoes are not supposed to be sweet. They're good just the way they are.
Just don't eat too much pie and stuff that has sugar and such in it. America is big enough... Which will eventually start another rant from me here, because it's ridiculous how many people are overweight here.
"religious undertones related to the deliverance of the English settlers by Native Americans after the brutal winter at Plymouth, Massachusetts"
So thank you Native Americans! We're sorry we continued to kill you off and put you into reservation.
Sorry we stole your money, and cheated you out of land for selfish purpose. After all this is the holiday celebrating possession! And yes, thank you for showing us how to catch fish and grow corn, but after we knew that, there was not much use for you guys. Well actually there is, thank you for running those casinos on your reservations! More gambling fun for the paleface.
And since most Casinos have all you can eat buffets, this comes full circle!
Thanksgiving, enjoy it! All we need for it to be a typical American Holiday, like Halloween, is that it needs to be more commercialized and pushed on other countries. There needs to be Thanksgiving themed clothes, house decoration and so on!
Oh wait... Also thank you Thanksgiving for Black Friday Sale! We love ourselves a good sale, don't we!
Me, I'm looking forward to turkey, corn bread and mashed potatoes. I'm Swiss, I'm neutral, and very European.

Hey Claudio, got a chance to see you wrestle in Chicago on Saturday. It was a real treat, hopefully I'll get to see some more when you ROH is in Chicago this January.
I really enjoy this blog, keep up the good work.
It's interesting...we have a large family (thirty people in our immediate family, between my brothers, and my husband's brother and sister, and the collection of kids), and Thanksgiving isn't that big an event because we all get together at least once a week for a meal. That's not counting the nights that only a few of us get together for dinner.
I'd say that out of every week, three of those nights we eat with extended family. Family is important, and we make the effort.
I can't imagine just waiting for big holidays to see everyone. Life would be boring as Hell.
Yep, that's what family is about!
