Spätzle

You need:

  • Two large eggs
  • Half a cup of whole wheat flour
  • A big bowl
  • A cheese grader (with large holes)
  • Large pan with boiling water

Mix the eggs with the half cup of flower in the bowl and add some water (about 1/3 cup), so that the mix becomes a nice wet dough that's not too thick. If your dough is too thick, just add some more water.

Now hold the cheese grader upside down over the boiling water and put the dough on top of it. Grind the dough through the grader, so the dough will fall through the holes into the water and cook!

When the Spätzle swim to the top, you can take them out of the water and store them, or put them on your plate! En guete!

Claudio's Spätzle meal suggestion

2 cups of Spätzle
1 cup of marinara sauce
1 cup of diced and steamed carrots
1 chicken breast, cut into small pieces

Put them all together in a wok or fry pan, let it cook until the chicken is ready and most of the sauce is absorbed, then serve it! En guete!
