Switzerland

Do I feel bad about not posting stuff in a while? Yes, I actually do. Because I wanna post something everyday, but I don't know how interesting that would be.

On the other hand I got a new phone so maybe there will be more pictures soon again! The bad thing is that I tried to post a picture and it didn't go so well (as you were able to see by the weird post that was on here for a while).

Now the good thing was that there actually came up a question.

Now a couple of people told me they saw documentaries about Switzerland and they were hooked. Now there was one particular question about the tunnel system in the Alps for defense reasons.

Now since I was in the Swiss Military and have a couple of friends in higher places there, I do have a little insight of that.

Now as you might know there are mountains all over Switzerland. And of course those mountains can be used for strategic reasons. To many people in Switzerland it's one of the reasons Switzerland wasn't invaded in WWII.

Now in those mountains there are tons of tunnels and caves, nobody, or only a few peoples know of. There are strategic bunkers at places you'd never think.

There are anti aircraft guns and artillery hidden behind giant rocks, who can be moved and camouflage them.

The tunnels can also be used to transport vehicles, goods, food and other stuff from A to B without being seen.

Switzerland has a very unique landscape. And trust me nobody knows how to take better advantage of it than the Swiss!

The Swiss have a mandatory term of service in the military, do they not? Do they still require every household to have a weapon in the house?

Yes, the service is mandatory for every male who's physically ok to do so. Females can also join the army if they'd like to.

The requirement is not that every household has a weapon. The thing is that every person who served in the military will bring and store their rifle at home.
