Tuesday Morning

No, not the store, the actual morning! Like last week I’m not writing this on a Monday? Why? Well mainly because I didn’t travel that much over the weekend, so there’s not that much to talk about…

Summer is kind of slow. What do I say, kind of slow, Summer IS slow. But stuff is picking up soon and then there’s a lot more to talk about.

I was up in Watertown, NY for 2CW which was my second time for the company and it was just as great as the first time. The set up was actually even better than the first time I was there and it reminded me of the old NWA tapings.

Another good thing about that trip was that it was only a 5 hour drive so i was able to leave at noon and ment I could sleep in. I love sleep. Who doesn’t?

Photo0690

Scrap the “n” at the end and this would be my favorite street by far! And it was also our exit. So that made it double as good.

Unfortunately I was not successful in beating Slick Wagner Brown since he is, like his name indicates, very slick and was able to pin me. I’ve been on a rough street lately but I’m sure it will pick up soon. A.k.a. next month.

I’ve goon without gold way too long, it’s time to add some to my collection again.

Well after the show I was looking forward to one thing and one thing only. Sheetz! It was about 3 hours away from the building and I drove straight there without stopping! Well that’s a lie I had to go to the bathroom but it was quick.

Photo0692

And I was rewarded by meeting the Sheetz truck! It’s like the Coca Cola trucks but smaller and more exiting!

A careful observer will see that I have something new. And you are correct I got myself a travel coffee mug! It’s tremendous because it has a “click clack” secure top that prevents the coffee from spilling. As clumsy as I am that’s an awesome feature! Plus it keeps the coffee warmer for longer. What more do you want?

So I ordered a steak sandwich and a completely sugar free mocha and got some almonds to snack on. What a glorious time I had.

Photo0693

What did I do on Sunday? Well first I slept in until like 12 o’clock. Yeah I know that’s late. And to be honest with you I haven’t slept that long in a couple of months! But it was worth it.

Then it was gym, grocery store and movie time.

I watched:

Righteous KillRighteous Kill

Starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. 50 Cent is in the movie too and he’s doing a good job. Needless to say that Robert and Al are just out of this world and make the movie a great pleasure to watch.

It’s only an hour and a half long so it really flies by. “Some people respect the badge, everybody respects the gun” Just a great movie with some great dialogues, twists and swerves and great actors all around. If you haven’t seen it I’d suggest you rent it.

The tale of Desperaux

Let me start by saying that I’m a huge fan of cartoons and animated movies (as you can see by my past reviews). This one sucked.

Desperaux was cute, but not that cute. The custest he was for about one second when they showed him as a baby. That was about it. The narrator was annoying me and the sub, sub, sub story confused me and made me not care. There are lots of movies that have many different stories wrapped up in one, but this one didn’t just flow one into each other, no they made us aware and pointed each one out (thanks narrator).

Now I don’t want to spend more time on this movie, I fell asleep 20 minutes in, woke up 20 minutes before it ended and felt like I didn’t miss a thing and was able to understand the whole story. Unless you really like soup or are a big fan of Desperaux, you don’t really have to see this one.

Ok it’s now almost time to cook again. I might write a completely separate entry about this, but congratulations to CM punk for headlining Summer(fest)Slam and winning the Title. He’s an inspiration to all indy wrestlers who dream of making it big one day!

Cheers,

Claudio

August Twittourage Q&A

Hi and welcome to the August Twittourage Q&A! After the big success in July, here’s the August edition!

And now without any further ado:

Borntolandhard asked: do u miss sledgehammer in roh? Favorite match in IWC?

- Hey, that’s two questions. I’ll let it slide though. Yes I miss Sledgehammer. But the 1812 Overture is pretty cool too I think. King’s of Wrestling vs. Ricky Reyes and John McChesny.

excaliber88 asked: Thoughts on the state of wrestling? What is needed? Ditch Nana's group but work w/Rave.

- Wrestling is obviously in a down right now. Hopefully there will be another Rock or Austin soon and wrestling will be back on the ups. What’s needed? Somebody that’s able to bring wrestling back to mainstream. Like I mentioned a Rock, Austin or Hogan for that matter. Somebody who’s able to lift the whole business.
I’ll note that ;)

RatedChris asked: Q&A? Awesome. When will you be back in Germany? ;-)

- Yes, awesome indeed. Unfortunately I don’t know… I hope it’s soon though, I miss Europe. I need my Kebab!

Pureahtlete89 asked: hey Claudio I know you are very proud of your European roots but what things (if any) do you enjoy about living in America?

- I enjoy living my dream. I enjoy being able to do what I do for a living. I enjoy Starbucks Coffee. I enjoy Giants food market, I enjoy CHIKARA, I enjoy ROH, I enjoy having 24/7 stores, gyms etc. I enjoy many things as a matter of fact.

DannyDangerPro asked: Why Pro Wrestling?

- Seriously? It’s the King of Sports!

The_Real_Kub asked: if you could have a match against any current puroresu star, who would it be?

- I’d pick Kenta Kobashi. Or Keiji Mutoh.

ageoforton asked: who has been your favorite opponent this year?

- Eddie Kingston

kbizl asked: this is goin back about a year & half, but did u enjoy ur time in Australia when u came 4 the NWA-Pro? Any chance of a return?

- I absolutely LOVED my time in Australia! It’s such a beautiful country, I wish I would have stayed longer and had a chance to see more. I actually wrote about that in one of my movie reviews after I watched the movie “Australia”. I don’t have a return date, but I hope somebody books me so I can go back!

DSC00123Picture taken by me at the zoo in Perth, Australia

DramaGuyCJM asked: If you had to wrestle wearing a mask, what would you want it to look like?

- I would want it to look awesome. Well that’s kind of a given. To be honest I have no set idea. I’d probably have somebody come up with a design and then tweak it until I like it. For sure it would have some Swiss stuff on there.

crystal_cage asked: -- favorite video game?

- Street Fighter II - Turbo

drew1513 asked: favorite drink when you wake up?

- Water… that’s just because I drink it all the time when I wake up. But coffee is pretty high up there as you could imagine. I think it depends on my mood.

dr00zilla asked: Who, besides yourself, would you consider to be the best athlete from Switzerland, past and present?

- The best athlete is Roger Federer period. You guys would maybe remember Alain Sutter who’s a Swiss soccer player who played in the US after the world cup was held in the US.

Denise Biellmann the famous ice skater who even has a move named after her.

Mark Streit who plays for the New York Islanders. David Aebischer (Montreal) and Martin Gerber (Ottawa) both NHL.

Andy Hug of course! If you’re a fan of wrestling or MMA you just have to know him.

Thabo Sefolosha, playing for the Chicago Bulls.

Unfortunately I’m sure I forgot some… But you see there’s more people from Switzerland that you know then you thought!

Robj23 asked: Claudio, what is your opinion on fans standing next to the ring (as in wXw)? Does it limit your movement or is it a challenge?

- It’s awesome. I don’t think it would work anywhere else in the world though. wXw is just such a unique place and I’m proud to have started there.

CMRulZ asked: What are your favorite Bands and what do you think about the Guitar Hero Videogames?

- Now that’s a really hard questions. Mainly because I have a different favorite band about every week. I like lot’s of different music and lot’s of it is European. Robbie Williams absolutely rocks. So does AC/DC. Which would be my favorite band I guess. I think they are addictive!

I used to play it a lot but then one day I played for like 4 hours straight without noticing it, neglecting the gym, grocery shopping and other errands. That’s when I decided that it’s not good for me and I stopped cold turkey right then and there.

I played a few times since but only one or two songs for fun. I also think the idea behind it is ingenious and I wish I came up with it.

muthmaster asked: if you could change with one movie character, which one would you choose?

- James Bond.

chrishorrorshow asked: what, in your opinion, is the hardest part of professional wrestling? Promoting yourself, making a living, etc?

- All those things that you mentioned. Like everywhere else it’s hard work to the top and it’s hard work to stay on top. Some things come easier to certain people than other things. I think all those things are hard. You just have to be patient and stick with it.

apsouthern asked: Alternatively, as you seem like a cultured fellow, can you recommend any good wrestling-based books?

- Well thank you. Dynamite Kid’s book is a must. I also enjoyed Chris Jericho’s book. I read the book of Rene Lassartesse which is only available in German and it’s really good. Mick Foley’s two first books are great as well. Those two books are the first two wrestling books I read btw!

I enjoyed Kurt Angle’s book just because he talked about how he trained for the Olympics. If you ever thought you trained hard, you haven’t compared to that guy.

yourk44 asked: If I had to buy one ROH DVD of all the shows you've been a part of, which one would you recommend?

- Maybe it’s because I’ve talked about it recently but I’d say the “Death before Dishonor IV” Cage of Death ROH vs. CZW. Just the intensitiy of the crowd that night was amazing. Maybe also the “Death before Dishonor V” night one with me and Morishima from Boston.

apsouthern asked: Who is your favourite British wrestler of all time?

- Jim Breaks!

http://www.trashfiction.co.uk/wrestlers_breaks.jpg

Thank you all for your questions! Next Q&A shall be in September!

Claudio

Last Weekend

Yes I’m a little bit behind, since usually I write my recap on Monday. Well I didn’t really feel like writing yesterday. Why? Well I don’t know but I’m just honest with you so no more questions.

Well that’s not true, because there will be another Twittourage Q&A coming up later this week so stay tuned!

Photo0671How was my weekend? It was great. I had three shows and every shows was at the Arena in Philadelphia, so it was not even an hour from my house! I was home by midnight every time, which is a great thing!

While driving through Philadelphia (to avoid traffic) I took this pretty picture to show you guys that Philadelphia is actually very pretty once you see past the traffic.

The ROH TV Tapings were Friday and Saturday Night. I was on first on Friday with my cage match with Brent Albright. The crowd was super into it and if it comes across like it was live, this will be great on TV! First cage match on HDNet and it should be one to be remembered.Photo0672

Since I was on first I was able to watch the rest of the show and it’s just getting better and better. I hope HDNet gets available in even more cities and households so that more people can enjoy it!

Saturday I battled Colt Cabana and all you fans who appreciate good straight up wrestling (like the world of sport style) will enjoy this match tremendously.

Photo0674Sunday was CHIKARA and me and Eddie Kingston locked horns one more time and this time I was actually able to pull out the victory for the first time this weekend! What a good way to end the weekend!

Another great thing about having the shows at the arena is that I was able to hit up the Starbucks down at Broad Street every day! Go me!

For the first time ever I had the Chocolate Espresso Truffle thingie and it was Photo0675delicious! Combined with a chocolate chip cookie it was tremendous.

Something else that was tremendous is the plate I got with my mini pancakes that I enjoyed at Denny’s! I only had a coffee and some of those pancake puppies.

The picture looked much cooler than the plate I got but the plate was still awesome. I then proceeded to play 3 point shootout by throwing the puppie into the syrup at the other end of the plate ( as you can see in the picture below).

Photo0676

That’s it for today, stay tuned for more updates later this week.

Tschüss,

Claudio

Going the extra mile

No, I'm not talking about literally walking, running or driving an extra mile, I'm talking about going the extra mile in a figure of speak. Man, I sound so well spoken.

Do you go to the gym even if you do not feel like it? Do you motivate yourself to do something you do not really want to but needs to get done?

Basically do you do just a little bit more than somebody else might do?

I read this once “Remember somebody somewhere in the world is training while you're not” That might not be the exact quote but it doesn't matter. If you're trying to achieve something, remember that there are other people who want the same thing. You need to want it more.

If that means going to the gym one extra time, eat a little bit cleaner, sleep an hour longer (yes, sleep is important) that's up to you.

The other day I was planning on going to run outside. When I woke up it was raining. It stopped but there were still clouds. I decided to go anyway and as soon as I arrived on the track the rain set in.

Now instead of going home and blaming the bad weather for not being able to get my workout in, I stuck with it and finished running around the track and up and down bleachers about 45 minutes later.

Guess what happened as soon as I finished? The rain stopped and there was some sun poking through the clouds. As if that was my reward for sticking with it and working hard.

I also found that running or being outside in the rain is one of the most refreshing things. And I missed it.

See when I was a kid I rode my bike everywhere. Well actually I did that until I was almost 20 because in Switzerland you can't get your drivers license until you are 18. So either you ride the bus, your bike or you walk.

And since it was about a 5 minute walk to the bus station (or a 2 minute run) I rode the bike a lot. And if it rained, well it rained.

Maybe it's the way I grew up that “Hey it rains” is not an excuse. Me and my friends used to bring beach towels to the basketball court to soak up the puddles so that we could play when it rained.

If you have a goal there should be nothing stopping you. Don't make excuses, don't try, do it!

Monday Movie Marathon Wrap-up

Good morning everybody! It’s Monday morning and the week has barely started but I’m already in high spirits for it! It’s going to be a good one. And I hope you feel the same way?

heidiveryeuropean How was your weekend? Did you check out very-european.com? Well if you always wanted a Claudio Hoodie, long sleeved shirt or are a girl waiting for a girl shirt, that’s the place for you to go! of course I also have regular shirts for sale.

simonlongsleeved

Heidi, Roger and Simon already have theirs, so now it’s up to you! You’ll also be able to pick one up at the CHIKARA show this Sunday at the Arena in Philadelphia.

rogerhoodie

So what did I do last weekend. Yes I dank coffee. Yes I ate a cookie or two and I watched a whole lot of movies!

And I’m going to talk about them in a minute. During the weekend I was thinking about joining NetFlix. I like RedBox, but they don’t have the movies I want sometimes and that’s annoying. Well actually it’s also kind of good because it makes me pick movies I wouldn’t have picked in the first place.

Man that sounds complicated. Maybe it’s in my writing style. But I just blame Netflix for it.

Dragonball: Evolution

Dragonball: EvolutionI was ready to hate this movie. I actually didn’t even wanted to rent the movie because I figured I’d dislike it so much that I was going to miss my dollar I spent on it.

But I actually liked it! Well the last ten minutes were kind of eh, but the rest was actually quite good and I hope they make a sequel (so that I can see Vegeta).

Admitted I never watched Dragonball when Goku was a kid some of the stuff in the movie that I didn’t like might be true to the comic/TV series I just didn’t know. I started watching Dragonball with the Cell Saga and then went back and watched the whole Dragonball:Z stuff. Yes all 291 Episodes including the grueling Sayaman stuff in there. Actually if you watched the Sayaman stuff this movie will be awesome (mainly because it’s so much better than that).

I also though Goku should be jacked… Maybe down the line.

Defiance

In case you don’t know, I think Daniel Craig is awesome. And so is the dude who played Sabretooth in Wolverine. I just Defiancefound out his name is Liev Schreiber btw.

This movie is great and the fact that it’s based on a true story is even more amazing. It’s about a group of Jewish brothers in Belarus and how they survived the holocaust. Not only that but they helped over 1000 others to do the same.

I like history movies and stuff about WWII and this was a great piece. The movie runs very long (two and a half hours) but the time flies by and you don’t even realize it.

A great piece of history conserved in a tremendous movie. Check it out.

Great movie.

Race to Witch Mountain

Race to Witch Mountain (Single-Disc Edition)I love the Rock. Well you know on a platonic level. He’s awesome and is still the most electrifying man in entertainment. He just stopped doing the sports part of it. Well at least the one we know. He’s still in great shape and funny as always.

Unfortunately he didn’t rise his eyebrow once in the movie, but that’s a thing of the past and I see that. The movie is a kids movie and the ultimate Sunday morning, while eating cereal movie.

That’s what I did and I liked the movie a lot. Great entertainment where you don’t have to think that much (and sometimes shouldn’t). I found out that a cab can drive for over 1400 miles without getting gas. But that only works if the Rock drives it. And if he does, who cares!

I should refer to him as Dwayne Johnson. I didn’t really care about the female co-lead that was introduced about 3/4 through the movie but that’s a subjective opinion.

The movie is about an hour and a half but it would be a lot shorter if they would have found out to whitch mountain they have to go earlier… No? Nobody… Whitch Mountain? Get it? I though it was funny…

Check the movie out for some good kid friendly entertainment and a dose of Dwayne!

Then Sunday came. I went to the grocery store and got me some goodies.

Photo0660 Swiss Coffee Game which one did I try? (it’s easier than the Mexican Hat game I know…)

Photo0661Part two of the riddle… which one is mine? (that one should be even easier!)

Photo0662 So exiting! It’s cookie in cookie! It’s like a half moon cookie and there’s a second one underneath it! Double chocolate cookie on top and Macadamia Nut White Chocolate cookie on the bottom!

Then I returned the above mentioned movies to red box and guess what happened? I got suckered into renting some more!

So I got Coraline and The Da Vinci Code.

Coraline

 Product Details

Well I wanted to watch it but the disc was so scratched that it wouldn’t play! Scam! And there’s nobody I can complain to. I hope I’ll see the movie eventually because the first  minute looked good (yes that’s all I was able to watch).

The Da Vinci Code.

The Da Vinci Code (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition)Liked it a lot! I haven’t read the movie and I don’t know if I would be smart enough to actually read it. It' looks like a whole bunch of information that I wouldn’t get.

But the movie was awesome and the riddles were great. I was thinking about writing a little church rant but decided against it. Now before anybody jumps on me, it’s NOT against religion, I said church (the Vatican part of it).

It also made National Treasure look like a total rip off and cheaper version of The Da Vinci Code.

If you like history and are into art and that kind of stuff you should have seen this movie already. Even if you do not and just like good movies, you should watch this.

Like Defiance the movie is two and a half hours but flies by and never lets you out of it’s grip. Special bonus is Jean Reno who’s awesome!

People who read the book told me the movie is not as good as the book, but since I haven’t read it I can’t give you my opinion of that. So you just have to take my word for it that it’s good.

And that’s it for today!

I shall talk to you soon again!

Hello everybody! Yesterday was the last day to send in pictures and so today I’ll present you the winner!

Stop! Blogger Time!

No, I haven’t been watching MC Hammer’s reality show or even listened to his music. What I listened to is Elton John and Billy Joel!

Last Thursday I went to their concert at the Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia! Yes, that’s the stadium of the 2008 World Champions the Philadelphia Phillies.

So needless to day it’s huge and so was the concert!

Photo0637

They started off together for half and hour, followed by an hour of Elton John then an hour of Billy Joel and the last 40 Minutes were together again.

Towards the end the sun obviously went down and the crowd was loving every single note and so did I. Photo0639

I though Elton was great but Billy just stole the show. On top of being an incredible pianist, singer and songwriter he’s also really funny. He also cussed and said the F word a lot which made me laugh.

A personal highlight was when one of his roadies sang “Highway to Hell”! Man that was awesome! It was even better after Billy said that his roadie would sing a “religious” song and we could boo him of stage if we wanted he didn’t give a “F”. The crowd didn’t really knew what to think of it but once the first few notes were played everybody jumped up and rocked out!

So that night was a huge success! Well except the parking ticket I got that night but after that concert I didn’t care. I strongly suggest to go see them if they come to a town near you!

Saturday was CHIKARA in Reading. Which is great because it’s only about 50 minutes from my house! Which ment I could hit the gym in the morning and then take a nap and go to the show. Which is exactly what I did. Minus the nap. Ha! I got you!

Photo0641

After getting to the building early, setting up a TV interview with Channel 69 and making sure everything is going according to plan it was time to get some coffee.  Like the cup in the picture says, I “heart” Sheets so that’s where I went! 100% Columbian was ordered and enjoyed.

The night was also a successful one since I was able to pull out the Ricola Bomb on Tim Donst. He’s a lot heavier than he looks for those of you who don’t know.

A show day where I’m back in bed before midnight is always a great success. Which is a sign that I’m getting old!

Saturday marked my debut at Jersey All Pro Wrestling. On the way to the show I stopped for some…. you guessed it, gas and since I was at the gas station I picked up some coffee too. I mean you can’t say no if it’s basically waving at you. Photo0643

And since I really loved the Peruvan Organic coffee from Wawa on Monday I decided to order it again. Well you don’t really have to order it at Wawa, you just kind of make it yourself. Which is a definite plus, but more about that later.

On the way to Jersey City I also was able to look at the Statue of Liberty for the first time. I’ve seen her in pictures but not with my own eyes. Well, I saw the pictures with my own eyes, but I never seen the statue live.

But since 95 (I think it is) runs right by it I was able to check her out. Impressive sight! And she looks really pretty at night. It’s the torch I think.

Unfortunately my debut at JAPW wasn’t that successful as Homicide caught me with a cutter and that was that. Also I blame round gimmick tables for not so well going gimmick sales. Speaking of, get my “Very European” shirt in my store :)

On the way home I got some more coffee but it was generic gas station coffee so I didn’t even bother taking a picture. Take that gas station coffee.

Do you know why I was looking forward to go to RCW in Baltimore on Sunday? First of all it’s always a lot of fun and the fans enjoy themselves a lot. Second I usually get a treat on the way down. Which in my case means a Starbucks cookie!Photo0646

And that’s exactly what I got! It’s soooo delicious! Especially if you pair it with a white chocolate mocha! Best combination ever. They should be named the tag champs of Starbucks. Somebody give them a belt!

Just one question. Why are the rest plazas on 95 before Maryland and in Maryland so ridiculously crowded all the time? It was insane, I had to stand in line for 14 minutes for my coffee and cookie. It was well worth it but still! That’s where Wawa has the advantage with the make it yourself coffee.

Guess who I got to have a rematch with at RCW? Homicide! Ha! I figured I have his number (which is 187 by the way) that night, but I guess I was wrong… He had mine (even though I don’t even know what mine is) and was able to beat me again. One day notorious one!

On the way back I stopped once more for coffee (Hi I’m Claudio and I’m an addict) and once again the service plaza was super crowded. Mind you it was 5 minutes before midnight. Just regular coffee was had, but that’s still tremendous when it' comes from Starbucks. Speaking of, Starbucks I love you even though you can’t spell my name…

Does that mean Starbucks emasculated me?

One more thing. Do you have WWE 24/7? Classics on demand? Whatever it’s called now days? Yes? Watch Summer Slam in the “big ones” section! It’s awesome! I only watched the first half and Ludvig Borga is AWESOME!! That promo and match made my day! Push up hook to the ribs anybody?

With a smile on my face thinking about that,

Claudio

PS: For those who don’t have 24/7 or just can’t wait, here’s the promo!
