September Twittourage Q&A, the answers!

Q: sallen_87 asked: Why did you decide to go from long hair to short hair to no hair? You look(ed) great at all three stages. I was just curious.

A:  well my hair kind of made that decision for me. My hair got thinner  and and thinner so I decided to cut it shorter and shorter. I finally found a look I like, and now I’m a proud Headblader!!

Q: AustinTatious21 asked: when are you going to get a main event push in roh?

A:  I’m working on that, having awesome matches and such!

Q: MadamXavier asked: Claudio, what's it like to be able to travel the world and do what you love for a living?

A:  It’s awesome and “Very European”. I’m grateful for it everyday.

Q: Robj23 asked: Has there ever been a time you wish you hadn't performed a certain move? Ie european uppercut over the top rope to the outside?

A:  Hm, I don’t think I ever did a European uppercut over the top to the outside. But there have been moves that I regretted. I hurt my knee on a tope con uppercut in 2005 or 06 and since then I haven’t done one. I try to learn from my mistakes.

Q: tobiola_ asked: Last month you told us what you enjoy about living in America. Is there anything you miss about living in Switzerland/Europe?

A:  Yes! I miss the mountains, the public transportation, my friends and family, the food, how close everything is, the friendly people, the language and music, the chocolate, Nescaffee cappuccinos, and much more! Snow, Skiing, biking, vita parcurs, Radio DRS, Radio Pilatus, hanging out at my favorite bars, playing streetball  with my crew… and more more!

Q: garrett_adams asked: any championship opportunities in your near future?

A:  Again, I’m working on it (see above, awesome matches and such!). I want some gold!

Q: xicegrillz asked: What is your favorite blend of coffee?

A:  I like morning blends or dark roasts. I’m enjoying a mocha blend right now! I try to experience as many as possible. There hasn’t been one that I really dislike so far. At my local grocery store they have a great Java blend and I enjoy the regular Starbucks blend quite a bit!

Q: xicegrillz asked: Other than ring steps, are there any other objects you've uppercutted?

A:  Many opponents :D I uppercuttet walls before. Turnbuckles quite a few times as well as ring posts (mainly because of opponents moving). But I think the ring steps is the most famous object so far (thank you botchamania!)

Q: lethalxkeith asked: Hey Claudio, do you exclusively drink Starbucks coffee, or is there any other brands you prefer?

A:  No I drink many other brands as well! I try to experience as many different coffees as I can! Java Java is great as well, or there are some local coffee shops that have quite amazing blends too. If I can I try to support non chain coffee places.

Q: SweetvsSpicy asked: If offered a contract from both WWE & TNA, which company would you rather join? & Any chance of a Swiss Money Holding reunion?

A:  I guess I would decide if that opportunity came along. I hope so!

Q: VogeDaddy asked: Do you one day want to be on the roster of TNA/WWE? I believe you have the skills and physical tools to be an asset to them.

A:  Thank you! I believe that too!

Q: shawn416 asked: how do you like your coffee? I'm a dunkin donut one myself, i want to make my coffee just like yours. Very european.

A:  America runs on dunkin! That’s one of the reasons I try not to go there, because that wouldn’t be “European” of me. But if there’s nothing else around I go there and I enjoy their coffee. Just drink your coffee proudly and you’re enjoying it like I do! (and with 3 splendas)

Q: luchalibrarian asked: What did you think of Texas and ACW? We loved you!

A:  I love it! I had such a great time! The venue is amazing and just from walking around a bit I must say I’m impressed with Austin! I hope I can come back soon and maybe hang out a little more in Austin. And how cool was it that Motorhead was playing down the road and we were able to listen to it?

Q: pbarb asked: What are your favorite matches against Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness?

A:  Against Bryan probably the match I had with him earlier this year for wXw in Germany. Against Nigel I’d pick my title match at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Q: robi2184 asked: Big Fan, Now that the WWE has signed Danielson & Nigel. Do you think you and Hero will be the next to go?

A:  Thanks! I don’t know.

Q: fireflyspike asked: : If you could pick a Survivor Series team of yourself and four other wrestlers, who would it be and why?

A:  Ares (obvious reasons), Dave Taylor & Bryan Danielson (Team Uppercut), Chris Hero (we made a good team in the past)

Q: tholzerman asked: - Double C, would you ever consider signing with the WWE again? Also, please never sign with TNA! They'd waste you!

A:  Sure, why not? Thanks for the heads up!

Q: excaliber88 asked: Ever have a match with Austin Aires? Looks to me like a money match!

A:  Yes I wrestled him about two years ago in Edison, NJ. And yes I was victorious!

Q: apsouthern asked: Which is the better film? Ready to Rumble, Wrestlemaniac or Nacho Libre?

A: I’m king of ashamed to say that I haven’t seen any of the movies you mentioned… I’ll have to watch them and then answer your question!

The ace of spades!

Time for part two of my last weekend wrap up!

I’m kind of behind of things, mainly because I just noticed that I might still not have quite caught up on sleep. But I don’t want to make excuses, so here we go with part two!

After a good nights of sleep I woke up in Dayton, OH and decided to check out the hotel gym after my breakfast. Like most hotel gyms, it had some pieces of outdated equipment. But for somebody who wants to work out, that’s enough. I proceeded to ride the stationary bike (straight from the 80s) for an hour. Actually it had to be a little over an hour because after 20 minutes the timer stopped and it told me my workout was complete. So I had to stop and wait until it shut off just so I could start again.

Next on the program, besides food, was the drive to Chicago. Nothing really to write home about except that there was no traffic in Chicago! That’s a first!

The fans saw a tremendous show that night and proved that Chicago is one of ROH’s absolute hot beds. Thank you Chicago for making it fun to perform for you every time, it’s my pleasure.

After the show I was able to ride to the hotel straight away and thought I’d be good for a couple hours of sleep. But I should be proven wrong. A bunch of drunk guys woke me up and I couldn’t go back to sleep… So I decided to just get up and go to the airport a little early.

A little early ended up 2 hours early, and after only 1 hour of sleep I napped a little at the gate. More napping was done on my flight to Houston where my 40 minutes layover was. I used those minutes wisely to eat my breakfast and then the next flight for another nap. That might sounds like a lot of naps, but it only added up to maybe 4 and a half hour of sleep total. For me, that’s not a lot.

Still I was in a great mood, because I was taken to a tremendous Mexican restaurant where I ended up eating a tremendously delicious burrito!

Since the show was early I just go to go to the hotel quickly to deposit some of my stuff (like airing out my stuff) and then we went to the venue.

Photo0779

The ACW (Anarchy Championship Wrestling) Venue is awesome! It’s like a bar for concerts and such and it’s outside! I love it!

The good thing about being early was that I was able to take a nice walk to Starbucks! How did I know there was one around? I just knew… I was able to check out 6th street (I believe) which seems to be a really cool place! Austin rocks!

Photo0781

This should also be true later on. After my match I went on the balcony to watch the rest of the show. There was loud music playing somewhere down the road and I found out that it was Motorhead.

Photo0783

And not just a Motorhead CD playing in a club, no it was the real band playing a concert two blocks down the road! AWESOME! So I was hoping the whole time they’d play HHH’s entrance music, which unfortunately they didn’t. They played the Ace of Spades though (probably the only two Motorhead songs I know) which was awesome and I used it as the background theme in my promo. Go me!

After a fun and always tasty visit to Ihop I was able to sleep another 3 hours before it was time to board another plane on my way back.

That’s where the Monday nightmare started… Let me explain this with bullet points:

  • First Flight from Austin to Atlanta got delayed for an hour because of bad weather in Atlanta
  • Flight got delayed some more
  • Missed my connection in Atlanta
  • The unfriendly customer service by Delta Airlines tells me I’m on the 2 o’clock flight to Philly (it’s 11am)
  • I ask him if I could be on the next flight (leaving at 12.45) or have a food voucher, he get’s unfriendlyer
  • Flight gets delayed for another hour… for another 20 minutes…
  • We take off, staff on board is not friendlier than the dude at customer service
  • We finally land in Philly! Hurray I’m home!
  • I was happy too early, the only two gates they have are occupied so we have to wait on the runway (they only have two gates???)
  • We find out that both planes are empty and are supposed to go to Atlanta, but can’t leave because of the bad weather there
  • Finally they come up with the great idea of pulling one of the empty planes off the gate and let us unload (why didn’t they do that when we landed?)
  • It’s 7pm now and I’m finally on my way home! (I was supposed to land at one)
  • I get home and go to the gym :) then sleep = happy Claudio!

That’s it folks!

Tschüss,

Claudio

What a weekend!

Jaaaaawn! I’m still tired from the past weekend, but I’m up since 8 and kicking it strong!

So what happened? Well before we jump to the end of it (which caused me some headaches, those who follow me on twitter, will know what’s up)

Lets start at the beginning. Friday was ROH in Dayton, OH! Since I didn’t drive this time I was at the Philly Airport at 6 in the morning. Nothing wrong with that, since the lines were short and I walked right through the “experienced traveler” lane.

Once on the plane I took my favorite “on a plane nap” which lasts from before take off to after landing. Cleveland was the city of my layover and despite being the King of Cleveland for almost a year back in 2006 I’ve never seen the inside of the Cleveland airport!

Photo0772

It’s actually quite stunning thanks to gigantic paper airplanes.

Just in case you’re wondering, no, they’re not actually made of paper.

After I ate my cereal (yes, a real man’s day starts with cereal) I boarded my second flight to Dayton. Again I used that time to take a tremendous nap.

Now you guys probably think that’s all I’m doing. And you’re almost right! Because once I got to the hotel I took another nap! In the middle of it I woke up and ate my lunch looked at the clock and decided that I can sleep some more!

Sleep is very precious to me so I make sure I get enough. And looking back it was the smart thing to do because I wouldn’t get much sleep the nights there after.

Photo0774 Well rested I made my way to the show a little bit later and even found a great establishment pretty close to the building…

Two espresso shots combined with some fresh brewed coffee later I was at the building, chilling and enjoying my day.

All those people who actually were in Dayton will tell you, they got one hell of a show!

In order for me to write something everyday, I’ll make this a two story entry! Which means I’ll write about the second part of the weekend tomorrow!

But don’t be sad I have some more stuff for you today!

Photo0773

Like some more awesome paper airplanes!

Or this:

A tremendous video made by “That Wrestling Show”. And to keep it interesting, who can find the mistake in the video?

The worst airline

would be delta. I know the weather is bad in atlanta, but there's no need to have rude staff. There's also no excuse for not having a gate to pull up to in Philly with the explanation "both of our gates are occupied". Ridiculous! I should have been home 4 hours ago cme i'm still locked in a plane that's chilling on the runway.

Wrap up

Cracker Barrel

Image via Wikipedia

Good Thursday! Even though the sun is not shining outside, it’s shining right here!

It’s all a matter of positive thinking. Not that I’m a master at that (I try though) but the world is much more fun if you’re happy.

Ok, enough blabbering, down to business. Wrestling that is.

After the CHIKARA show in West Springfield me and a bunch of other guys who didn’t wanted to go out went to Cracker Barrel for some food. I decided to go with the salad and I made the right choice.

The waiter was on his game a.k.a. he wanted us to be out of there as soon as possible. One of the reasons might have been that we arrived at 10-55 and the restaurant closed at 11. So he wasn’t messing around. Considering I wanted to get some sleep that was a good thing.

Back at the hotel, roommate number one noticed that the toilet flushed super slow. Like it took the water forever to go down.

Since it went down though, nobody thought anything of it.

Neither did I and I enjoyed Sin City on Spike.

Later in the night I woke up, went to the bathroom and then back to sleep.

All of a sudden I hear the voice of roommate number one “Guys, we have a problem”. Oh gee, what could have happened I though while halfway waking up. Did somebody get in trouble or something happened to the building for the next day.

“Our room is flooded!”

Woah! I was up in a second and immediately stepped into a big puddle of water. The whole bathroom was under water, and about 1/5th of the room with a good two inches of water.

Handyman Claudio immediately knew what to do and stopped the toilet from producing water (I almost ripped the floating thingie out, but those are details) and started to soak up the water with some towels.

Luckily the carpet helped me and absorbed a good amount as well. I was also lucky that I have a hard shell suitcase, otherwise all my clothes and gear would have been soaked.

So after about 15 minutes of soaking up water and the help of about 7 more towels that a hotel clerk brought the water was gone. The floor was still super wet, but I decided to go back to sleep while hoping I wouldn’t have to go to the bathroom again…

I woke up to the birds singing and decided it’s time to get up and have breakfast. The continental breakfast of the hotel was not too shabby but I brought my own so go me!

The ride to the show in Nashua was a lot of fun and we passed some really nice parts of NH. It seems to be a paradise for golfers!

I teamed up with Bryan Danielson one more time to relive Team Uppercut and it was great! Unfortunately we couldn’t pull out the win. But we got to see the first ever CHIKARA baseball game and that was a blast!

Big thanks to the fan who actually brought me a Starbucks coffee to the merch table at intermission! You rock! One of the highlights of my weekend for sure!

The drive back home went pretty quick thanks to the coffee I mentioned above, some more coffee from McDonalds and great music.

Just one pet peeve, rest plazas where the gas pumps don’t work! Since I usually wait until the last moment to stop for gas, it’s not a good thing if the pumps don’t work. Fortunately for me it all worked out.

Oh how could I forget?! On my last stop I got 3 for 1 salad! I asked the lady for two side salads and she looked at me and said “you want one?” while holding up two. I replied with a yes and she ended up giving me 3! Hey, go me!

This weekend I’ll be in Dayton, Chicago and Austin Texas! ROH, ROH and ACW! If you’re in the area come check out the shows!

Cu there, tschüss,

Claudio

You thought I forgot!

The CHIKARA Roster Of 2005

Image via Wikipedia

But I didn’t, it’s just a little late now but technically still Tuesday.

So where was I'? Ok, I remember, after day one of ROH TV.

Well ROH day two was another good day that started with a workout at my local Y. “Young man, there’s a place you can go…” you know the deal a.k.a. song.

Followed by another trip to the arena, a little less traffic than the day before and the routine trip to get some coffee. The cool thing was that the guy already knew what I was getting. Venti coffee with one shot of espresso.

Kingston was wrestled that night and of course he had to cheat in order to beat me, but I’ll take care of that another day. And you’ll be able to watch it all on HDNet!

Saturday I met up with one of my favorite travel partners and a guy I have sooo many great road trip memories, the great Bryce Remsburg in order to make the trip to the West Springfield CHIKARA show.

Now I was too lazy to put the pictures on my computer yet, but there are some pretty great ones. So stay tuned, I’ll post them all tomorrow along with part 3 of this trilogy!

You know what’s always fun? Sneaking up on people. It’s true, some great song features those very lyrics “The best surprises always sneak up from behind” and they are correct. (What song is it? I know, but do you?)

What happened is the following: We pulled over at a rest plaza and who did we see? A bunch of other CHIKARA guys. And they didn’t see us. So I told Bryce to park quickly, so that I could hurry and catch them before they made into the plaza. Quick on my feet (like I am) I ran over to them, grabbed the ankles of the ones that walked in the back and made a barking noise!

Now, this might doesn’t sound as funny (because I’m not that good at telling funny stories), but one of the two guys I got proceeded to jump in the air and yell really loud. So it was all well worth it and a good laugh.

Gosh, I should really learn how to retell stories better. Because that just sounds lame but it was really not. Ok I shouldn’t harp on it too much…

After making it to the venue the guys wanted to go to get some food and I tagged along to find my favorite pre show drink.

And guess what? I got free coffee! The lady told me because it wasn’t freshly made it was on the house. Thank you Sunoco! The coffee was pretty good as well which led to me being happy.

Me being happy led to a great match against Hallowicked. Claudio 2, my opponents 1 so far!

What else happened that night? Well I’ll tell you that tomorrow because it’s time for me to get some sleep now!

I shall write the wrap up tomorrow.

Good night,

Claudio

What better way…

… to start the week than with writing a little about the weekend. In case you haven’t noticed I’m trying to block out Monday.

So after no wrestling for two weekends finally wrestling was back on my agenda. And what a weekend it was! 4 days in a row!

It all started on Thursday with the first night of ROH TV tapings at the arena in Philadelphia. Like I mentioned before, the beauty of that is that it’s under an hour from my house, so I was able to sleep in, hit the gym and then go to the show.

Another great thing about it is that I found a Starbucks under 5 minutes from the building and I visit it every time I’m there now. Well every time I’m there for a show.

Like many of you know I teach at the CHIKARA school, so I’m pretty much there twice a week. So I’m almost at home at the arena and another day there is not bad at all. Especially when you can hang out and have fun.

That night I faced Grizzly Redwood and the only bad thing about that match is that I (and you) will have to wait about 2 months until it can be seen on HDNet! I can’t wait!

You know what? It’s time for me to go to the gym now. So I’ll post this and continue writing about my weekend either later today or tomorrow! Trust me there’s much more to come, including a flooded hotel room, eyes without a face and a tremendous gift I got from a fan!

Stay tuned,

Claudio

I’m late…

With this blog this week…

Why? Well I didn’t really feel like writing about the weekend. Nothing bad happened or anything but since I had no show, there wasn’t much traveling done.

This should all change this weekend since I have 4 shows in a row! That would be two ROH TV Tapings at the arena (which would be 4 days at the arena in a row for yours truly) followed by 2 CHIKARA shows. Are you exited? I am!

So I tried bebo.com for about 2 seconds and then I decided I didn’t really like it. Yet. Maybe I’ll like it in the future but right now it doesn’t what I wanted it to do. I was looking for something that consolidates facebook, twitter, myspace etc. But right now I haven’t figured it out. Oh well, I’m sure I will.

So in order to not keep you completely update less I figured I post some pictures for you! Not necessarily from the past weekend, but from the past couple of weeks. Enjoy!

Photo0710 Oh yeah! It doesn’t get much better than this! Cheat = Fancy Starbucks coffee with a corresponding chocolate chip cookie!

Photo0711 Trader Joe serves free coffee samples! Best store ever (not just because of that)

Photo0712 Yeah, yeah, yeah (representing)

Photo0713 Hihi

Photo0719 The best pizza in the Philadelphia area. Not just my opinion but also that of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Photo0721 Nescafe Cappuccino… Very European

What time is it?

Win time, whoa! Yeah that’s right. I’m up and I’m pumped. Why? Well there’s gym coming up, including a new workout.

image

Also my main man Roger won his first round match at the  US Open yesterday! And yes I watched the last set and it was awesome. It was also entertaining to listen to the debate of the American commentators trying to reason if Murray or Roddick will be able to beat Roger. The answer is NO.

I also watched some DVDs over the weekend. Yes this summer hole of shows is killing me.

I watched “Yes man” with Jim Carrey and it was fun! I didn’t even notice that Hyde from “That 70’s Show” was in there for the first thirty minutes.

Great movie give it a shot and not just if you like Jim Carrey. If you’re really into Jim Carrey you probably saw the movie at the theaters.

Then I saw Kung-Fu Panda. I usually don’t like Jack black but he was good in this one! Mainly because I could only hear his voice. As you know by now I’m a big fan of animated movies and this one was another great one. Cute animations, great characters and a nice story.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow’s a mystery and today is a gift. That’s why it’s called present.” A little inspirational message from me (taken from Kung-Fu Panda).

I didn’t see UFC 102 but I’m going to within the next couple of days.

Oh, how could I forget, one of my new favorite shows on TV, “Shark Tank”! Every Sunday night on ABC. ABC has some awesome shows btw. But “Shark Tank” is right up there with “Top Chef” and “Project Runway” for me.

Here’s the quick scoop. There are 5 investors a.k.a. sharks on the panel. Then there are some entrepreneurs who need some money in order to keep on going or to grow. So they offer parts of their company to the sharks in exchange for money. Like “You’ll get 15% equity for 300k”. Then the sharks decide if it’s worth it or not.

More time than not the idea of the entrepreneurs are not good so they don’t get an offer. Or the sharks make a counter offer and the dudes don’t take it and get yelled at for being not business savvy. And you know what? Most of the times the sharks are right!

So check it out next Sunday!

Side note, Dusty on RAW = Awesome!

Tschüss,

Claudio
