Quarter Final

For those who don’t know, it’s Quarter Final time at the Olympics in Ice Hockey. Who’s playing? Switzerland against the US!

Last time they played was in their group and the US beat Switzerland 3:1 with Switzerland playing not that well in the 2nd Quarter and that’s why I think they lost.

They’ve been playing great since, so if they keep it up I think they have a chance against USA! Unfortunately / fortunately I won’t be able to watch all of it because I will have to leave for CHIKARA practice… Which could be good, because my nerves are usually pretty stressed when I’m watching it live on TV.

I’m sure I’ll talk about it tomorrow!

At this point I’d like to thank all the watchers of “Claudio’s Café”! I’m already thinking about stuff for the next episode. It should be great.

That’s about it for right now, make sure you watch the Olympics and support Switzerland!

Upset…

Yes, I’m pretty upset right now. Why? Well mainly because NBC is not showing the Men’s Downhill. Or at least not live.

Men’s Downhill is one of THE event’s of the Olympic games. NOT Figure Skating. As much as I like to watch figure skating. Downhill Skiing is like the KING of all events. When you think about Winter, you think about Skiing. And the Downhill is the biggest discipline there.

Now I understand NBCs great TV strategy. We show events (at the same time) and then switch back and forth whenever an US athlete is competing. Now I get that, but then show ALL events!!! Especially the ones that are LIVE!

Seriously! I think it should be like in Europe where there are many channels broadcasting the Olympics. Like that you’re able to catch different events and switch between the ones you would like to watch.

There’s not just one channel that does it. I really, really, really hope there are going to be more than one channel broadcasting the Soccer World Championships this summer, otherwise I’m going to have a nervous breakdown. Especially if it’s going to be NBC!

So as I write this they show the Snowboard qualifier…. the QUALIFIER over a LIVE event? Who’s the director of programming over there?

I was originally going to write about last weekend which was great, but this took over…

Winter Olympics rule, but I want to see the great disciplines of the Olympics… not seeing the Downhill live just makes me sad.

Maybe it’s also because that’s one event that the Swiss are really strong and have another gold medal coming their way… But I’d be upset otherwise too…

That’s like showing the 100m of the Summer Olympics not live!

Well, I’m going to stop here… Too much ranting already. I’m still going to enjoy the Olympics today, this just but a bump in my mood and I had to get it off my chest.

Ciao,

Claudio

It’s been a while…

Yes I know I had this title before and yes I know that’s the name of a Nickelback song. Nickelback is also providing the new RAW song and I know a certain Referee and CHIKARA commentator that’s a big fan of them. So if you have a chance you should let him know how awesome they are.

Well what happened the last weekend? Not really much, thanks to the epic snow here in Philadelphia. Not really epic for me since I’ve seen this pretty much every winter in Switzerland but certainly epic for here.

After a tremendous first night or ROH TV tapings, the second night got cancelled because of the snow. It was going so great! The Kings of Wrestling returned to TV action and set a big statement! 3 matches, 3 wins and we were nowhere close to being done! We were all super exited about the second night, but unfortunately that didn’t happen.

What can you do? We’ll just carry all the momentum into New York!

So what did I do on Saturday? Well I watched a lot of movies! Including “The Proposal”, “Monster Inc”, “Mongol” and finally “Avatar”. I saw the last one in 3D and I must say it totally rocked! The effects were really subtle and added to the movie and were not just done for the sake of having 3D effects.

All the movie watching continued on Sunday and I also watched the Super Bowl. Great game, not so great commercials. Like every year I’m really exited about the commercials, but this year it was brutal! Maybe 3 good commercials! I read it costs 3 million dollars for 30 seconds… And some companies couldn’t come up with more creative stuff than that? I would have a serious word with my marketing department!

I continued watching CBS (if I’m not mistaken) and saw the season premier of “Undercover Boss”. I really dig this show and hope it will continue to be on Sunday nights so I can check it out. Unlike my previous Sunday night show “Shark Tank” who moved to some weekday that doesn’t really work for me.

For those who noticed I updated my website layout! What do you think? Let me know!

I’m also planning on making more frequent although maybe shorter updates. Thoughts on that?

Enjoy the Snow,

Claudio

Back home, LA, CHIKARA and lot’s of pictures from Japan!!

Those were the major happenings of my last week. I flew back home… well, my American residence, last Monday. Thanks to sitting next to Chris Hero I only slept like 4 hours on an 11 hour flight. The big problem was that we’re both kind of big, so every time he moved I woke up and vice versa.

But that shouldn’t spoil a good time, so after I slept a little I watched Zombieland, which I thought was a great movie and then proceeded to destroy Chris at Battleship. Battleship is the official game of the Kings of Wrestling. He beat me at bowling pretty badly though.

Thanks to a rainstorm in Philadelphia we were able to catch a delayed earlier flight from Chicago and arrived home early. I used newly available time masterfully and went to the gym. Then I fell asleep at 9 o’clock.

The rest of the week I was  trying to get back in the sleeping rhythm that I had before, which roughly worked until I had to go to LA for ROH. Again I didn’t sleep too much on the flights which gave me plenty of time to read the in flight magazine and getting super annoyed over my phone/MP3 player who decided to not display half of my songs.

Being in LA was great and the show / Wrestling convention took place at the Hilton right by LAX! After leaving my bags in the hotel room (which was super nice) me and Delirious walked to Chalet Edelweiss to enjoy some tremendous Swiss food! If you’re ever in the area, you have to check it out!

I vote that ROH always has their show from now on at Hilton or similar hotels because it was awesome! The crowd was hot and me and Chris Hero had a great return to the US.

After the match I was able to walk up to my room in my gear and take a great shower! Good times. Only 4 hours later I woke up and went on my way back home. This time I slept a lot more. I woke up about an hour before we landed and for the first time in my live I finished some sudoku puzzles! Go me!

The rest of Saturday was used to watch “I love you man” which I did not like at all. Well the last ten minutes were kind of ok.

Sunday was CHIKARA and it was a great! Teaming up with Ares again just felt great and with CHIKARA setting a new attendance record the atmosphere was tremendous. Chikara’s on a roll and I hope you keep following to see what happens.

And now…. to what you’ve all been waiting for… more pictures from JAPAN!!
